Applied research carried out under the auspices of the Monaco Cardio-thoracic Centre's Scientific Council:

La Applied research, projects, in partnership with the permanent team at the Monaco Cardio-thoracic Centre, were carried out in the following areas:

  • « Mapping of the cardiac wall after myocardial infarction, using magnetic resonance (GLE - Gadolinium Late Enhancement), according to four projections to determine feasibility of the endoventricular exclusion technique. On the basis of such mapping, detection of a correlation between size of the ventricular scar and degree of cardiac failure.
Multicenter trial underway with cardiological, radiological, IT and surgical input.
  • Morphology and hemodynamics of the ischemic left ventricle after reconstruction, using cardiac magnetic resonance (under the aegis of the NIH: randomized international study) - since 2001.
  • Study of contour recognition software using digital imaging and signal processing, 1997-1999.
  • Contribution to the Artificial Electro-Mechanical Heart Programme (IRCV, Sion and Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne, Switzerland), 1990-1994.
  • Haemodynamic studies of left ventricular function (Professor di Donato - Florence, Italy) since 1993.
  • Refinement of medical equipment such as the four-function 'Pancardiographe' (Dr Varenne - University of Nice) 1989-1990.

Annual meeting:

The Scientific Council organises an annual meeting in November, a Medical and Surgical Cardiology or Cardiovascular and Thoracic Diseases Day, which brings together internationally renowned specialists.

This year, the "Scientific Council International Day 2012" will address the theme:

"Adult congenital heart disease".
