La Applied research, projects, in partnership with the permanent team at the Monaco Cardio-thoracic Centre, were carried out in the following areas:

  • Cartography of the cardiac wall, assessment of myocardial infarction using magnetic resonance (GLE - Gadolinium Late Enhancement) with four projections in order to determine the feasibility of endoventricular exclusion and the appropriate technique.
Multi-centrical study currently in progress with cardiological, radiological, computing and surgical input.
  • Study of contour recognition software using digital imaging and signal processing, 1997-1999.
  • Contribution to the Artificial Electro-Mechanical Heart Programme (IRCV, Sion and Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne, Switzerland), 1990-1994.
  • Haemodynamic studies of left ventricular function (Professor di Donato - Florence, Italy) since 1993.
  • Refinement of medical equipment such as the four-function 'Pancardiographe' (Dr Varenne - University of Nice) 1989-1990.
  • Morphology and haemodynamics of the ischaemic left ventricle using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging.

Annual meeting:

The Scientific Council organises an annual meeting in November, a Medical and Surgical Cardiology or Cardiovascular and Thoracic Diseases Day, which brings together internationally renowned specialists.

This year, the "Scientific Council International Day 2010" will address the theme:

"Aortic valve in elderly patients (implantable valves)".
