Congenital Heart disease awareness day: a strong commitment from CCM

Fully committed to the care of children and adults with congenital heart disease, the Monaco Cardio-Thoracic Center organized an information day on these conditions, which affect 8 newborns out of every 1,000 births, on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026.

Initiated by Professor Sylvie Di Filippo, pediatric and adult congenital cardiologist and fetal cardiologist, University Professor and practitioner at the Monaco Cardio-Thoracic Center, the event brought together healthcare professionals, parents of children with congenital heart disease, and the Petit Cœur de Beurre association, whose mission is to improve care for people born with a heart defect and their families.

The program covered early screening, diagnosis, therapeutic approaches, medical-surgical and interventional care, follow-up, and the life journey of children and adults living with congenital heart disease.

It was an informative day combining valuable discussions and relevant information, further strengthening CCM’s prevention initiatives.

For the past three years, the medical and surgical team at the Monaco Cardio-Thoracic Center has been dynamically and professionally developing the care of children and adults with congenital heart disease. The Center is proud of the success and steady growth of this activity, reaching nearly 120 medical-surgical and interventional procedures in 2025.
Fully committed to the management of these specific conditions, the Center is addressing a major public health challenge: 8 newborns out of every 1,000 births and 200,000 adults are affected. Screening, prevention, diagnosis, therapeutic approaches and medical-surgical and interventional care, as well as the genetics of these conditions, are therefore major challenges for congenital cardiology today and in the future.
